Exciting final spurt of Jacos Paddock Motorsport |
24h Dubai 2010
|
The fatigue was written in the faces of the mechanics as the whole team
suddenly abrupt awoke
because of a radio call from David Joseph.
The Scotsman reported that he had heard that a part from the |
| vehicle had broken off , and was slowly ending
the lap. There in the pit lane entry, the BMW was briefly changed into
a tricycle after he lost a wheel due to a fatigue fracture of the left
front wheel.
These three wheeled David Joseph drove to already planned stop-and-go
penalty and then moved on to the pitbox form Jacos Paddock.
The mechanics rushed straight around to the M3 to make the vehicle again
ready to race again. Only 6 hours had the BMW to endure, but as always,
these are the most difficult hours of every 24 hours race.
After the brief moment of terror in the early morning the team had to
change tires and refuel the BMW only.
After 24 hours, 467 laps, 2563 km, the BMW M3 E46
full ended his first 24-use 5500km from home to the finish.
All the drivers and the team where very happy with the result.
A great adventure from which no one knew how it would proceed, had found
a successful end, Jaco Velders: "Our whole team did a great job without
affecting the performance of each individual, we would never have finished.
This was our first 24 hours race as a team, we can’t wait to start
the 24 hours of Nurburgring. "
The pilots where the unanimous view that the deployment was in Dubai was
the right decision: "The car was very well prepared in Barweiler,
we quickly found the right setup. The two problems we had during the long
race, were solved by the team quickly and carefully. Participating the
race was a lot of fun and finishing it turned it into a great success,
"said Didier Denat.
Done and very tired te sea-container had to be packed immediately after
the race for it’s long trip home to the Eifel. In the night the
plane flew home with the team on board, probably everyone dreaming of
the successful adventure in the dessert.
